test_atmospherePolarRadius

Test the optional polar radius of the atmosphere base class, which selects a geodetic altitude.

test_atmospherePolarRadius.test_polar_radius_selects_geodetic_altitude()[source]

Verify the density uses the geodetic altitude above the ellipsoid once the polar radius is set.

Over the pole the ellipsoid is about 21 km closer to the planet center than the sphere, so a spacecraft 400 km above the ellipsoid is 379 km above the sphere. The default planet is a sphere.

test_atmospherePolarRadius.test_polar_radius_setter_and_getter()[source]

Verify the polar radius defaults to a sphere, round-trips, and rejects zero.

test_atmospherePolarRadius.test_position_only_planet_message_gives_a_finite_altitude()[source]

Verify a planet message without an orientation is treated as the identity.

The message leaves J20002Pfix at zero. Without the identity fallback the planet-fixed position is zero, the geodetic altitude is not a number and the density is zero.
